Morning Commute To Change For Highway 75 Drivers

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

There’s a traffic alert you'll need to be aware of before you go to work on Monday.

ODOT said this closure will last through at least the end of June and it starts just in time for your Monday morning commute.

Beginning at 6 a.m. they will be closing both northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 from 41st to the Red Fork Split.

While it's only about a half-mile closure, the big headache is going to be the detour.

If you're coming into downtown from the south, you'll want to take I-44 west to 244 and then head east.

You'll then be able to rejoin 75 at the merge and continue on your way.

ODOT said this is all due to planned rehab of the bridge crossing Southwest Boulevard which will also see some lane closures.

They said the detour is set up to avoid more traffic issues on city streets.

“Even though we'll have Northbound 75 open to 41st Street, that's really to allow local traffic to have access into those neighborhoods. We want the highway traffic to follow the highway detour route," said ODOT.

Again, this will only affect northbound Highway 75.

So, be prepared for delays during morning rush hour both on the detour and on Southwest Boulevard all day.

If the weather cooperates, 75 will be back open in July and work on Southwest Boulevard will be done in August.
