Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict could be in line for another suspension, though this time not for an on-field infraction.

Burfict is facing a four-game ban for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Burfict has served multiple bans as a repeat violator of the NFL's player safety rules. Last year, he served a three-game suspension — reduced from five games on appeal — for a preseason hit against Kansas City Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman.

He was also ejected from a Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans for making contact with an official, but he faced no further punishment.

Last September, he signed a three-year extension worth $38.7 million.
