4 must-watch weekend sporting events

Cape Town - It's the weekend!

But the sporting world never sleeps, so hang on tight and be sure to watch these FOUR events (in no particular order)!

1. Six Nations

It's the final round of Six Nations fixtures.

Ireland have already clinched the title and they can achieve their third overall Grand Slam when they take on England at Twickenham (Saturday, 16:45 SA time). 

Italy will look to break their losing streak in the tournament when they host Scotland (14:30 SA time) and then we end off with a fight for the likely runner-up spot at the Millennium Stadium as Wales battle France (19:00 SA time).

2. FA Cup quarter-finals

Only eight teams remain in the FA Cup.

The action kicks off with Swansea City hosting Tottenham Hotspur (Saturday, 14:15 SA time), followed by favourites Manchester United battling Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford (Saturday, 21:45 SA time).

On Sunday, Wigan Athletic take on Southampton (15:30 SA time) and then we'll see former Premier League champions Leicester City face reigning champions, Chelsea (18:30 SA time).

3. MotoGP

Start your engines as the MotoGP season is GO, GO, GO this weekend!

Will Marc Marquez win his third consecutive title or will veteran Valentino Rossi romp to his 10th world title?

What about our very own Brad Binder? Binder spent a chunk of the 2017 season sidelined with injury, but this year the South African will look to impress in Moto2.

4. Super Rugby

Round 5 of Super Rugby action gets under way this weekend.

On Saturday, we'll be entertained by the Highlanders and Crusaders (08:35 SA time) and then the Sharks are in Canberra to face the Brumbies (10:45 SA time).

Back in SA at Newlands, the Stormers battle the Blues (15:05) after which the Lions host the Sunwolves in Johannesburg (17:15)

Who will reign supreme? Will we see any upsets? All these questions and more will be answered on Sport24...
