North India to see above normal temperatures over next 2 weeks

NEW DELHI: Temperatures are expected to be above normal in the northern parts of the country over the next two weeks, having already crossed the 40°C mark, the India Meteorological Department said.

“Maximum temperatures are very likely to be above normal by 2 to 4°C over northern parts of the country and near normal or below normal” over the rest of the country during March 15 to 21, the weather office said in a forecast on Thursday. The department warned of thunderstorm activity accompanied with gusty winds in most parts of the country over the next two to three days.

IMD last month forecast a warmer-than-usual summer this year and the heat is already being felt in some parts of the country.Temperatures in New Delhi are expected to reach 35°C over the next seven days.
