BJP Floor Leader in the Assembly P. Vishnu Kumar Raju said Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has only reiterated what his party had already raised in the Assembly, particularly the issues of sand mafia and land-grabbing, and dismissed the theory that the actor’s outburst had his party’s tacit support.
In a chat with media persons on Thursday, Mr. Raju said he personally took various instances of corruption to the notice of the Assembly and the government promised to take necessary remedial action and followed up its words with deeds to some extent.
“When we spoke, it was just ‘water,’ with Mr. Kalyan’s open statement that corruption is rampant under the TDP regime, it seems to have become ‘holy water,’ Mr. Raju observed.
However, he refused to hazard a guess as to which party would benefit from Mr. Kalyan’s hard-hitting message which was largely aimed at the TDP but expressed the belief that no one would have prompted him to do so.
‘Genuine concerns’
While asserting that Mr. Kalyan sounded genuine in voicing his concerns, Mr. Raju and his party MLAs Kamineni Srinivas and P. Manikyala Rao wished that he maintains consistency in what he says and in taking his agenda forward.
They maintained that the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was one-sided in projecting his party’s stand vis-a-vis while the BJP tried to give its perspective (backed by facts) on the bifurcation issues which proved to be the nemesis of the TDP-BJP alliance.
