Kaithal to get Sanskrit university

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana assembly on Thursday passed a Bill to set up Maharishi Balmiki Sanskrit University at Kaithal, sources said here on Thursday.

Maharishi Balmiki Sanskrit University, Kaithal Bill, 2018 was unanimously passed by the House to establish and incorporate a teaching-cum-affiliating university at Kaithal to facilitate and promote higher education with special emphasis in Sanskrit literature, vedas, philosophy, Indian culture and Indic languages and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields, an official said.


The Bill was moved by education minister Ram Bilas Sharma.


As per the Bill, the higher education sector in Haryana need to respond to the dynamic changes happening all over the globe.


On the concluding day of the budget session on Thursday, the Haryana assembly passed 15 Bills.
