DALLAS (AP) - No. 3 seed Tennessee (26-8) vs. No. 11 seed Loyola-Chicago (29-5)
Second round, South Region; Dallas; Saturday, 6:10 p.m. ET
BOTTOM LINE: Tennessee coach Rick Barnes has won all five of his NCAA Tournament games at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the first four with Texas and the latest a 73-47 first-round victory over Wright State. Donte Ingram’s last-second 3-pointer lifted Loyola-Chicago over Miami 64-62 in the Ramblers’ first tournament game in 33 years.
MOVING ON: Ingram estimated that he had watched his winning shot from the March Madness logo well behind the arc about 200 times, obviously thanks in part to social media. “People have been tagging me in it and sending me different versions of it,” he said. “Yesterday, you can’t block that out. As of now, that’s behind me. That’s behind the team.”
ANSWERING THE PRAYER: Tennessee’s Grant Williams was asked how the Volunteers could compete with the pregame presence the Ramblers enjoy: 98-year-old Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, the nun who leads the prayer as team chaplain and offers critiques of the players. “I feel like she’s aggressive. You know, she pushes the ball up the court,” Williams said as laughter broke out. “But she’s super nice. I saw her on TV.”
CHICAGO BOND: Ingram and Tennessee’s Admiral Schofield opposed each other on the AAU circuit while attending high school in the Chicago area. Schofield is from Zion, Illinois, north of Chicago. Ingram attended high school in the city. “He plays city ball, and very tough, tough-nosed guy,” Schofield said of Ingram. “But the biggest thing is a lot of us coming up in that area, that’s how we play ball. We’re very tough.”
