LAKELAND — An 18-year-old Lakeland High School student was arrested Thursday on charges of transmitting a threat to conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, a second-degree felony.

According to the Lakeland Police Department, Jared Gleydura had posted on Snapchat that he wanted to kill and commit manslaughter on several students. School resource officers had received information about the message. When interviewed, Gleydura said he was upset about being picked on and called a name and he had been emotional when he posted the video.

Officers determined Gleydura's posts on social media met the criteria for Florida State Statue 836.10 regarding written threats to kill or do bodily harm. A search of Gleydura's residence did not locate any weapons.
