‘The Tigers Speak’ exhibit by Hariom Tiwari on display at AF Gallery

Alliance française de Bhopal is organizing an exhibition of cartoon sketches ‘The Tigers Speak’ by eminent cartoonist Hariom Tiwari. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday at Alliance France de Bhopal’s art gallery.

The theme of the exhibition is tiger conservation. The exhibition will be held in the cultural gallery of Alliance française de Bhopal. The event will be inaugurated by Tapan Bhowmik, Chairman, MP Tourism Development Corporation. The exhibition shall be on view till March 30.

Born in a small village Billowa in Gwalior district in north east of Madhya Pradesh, Hariom belongs to a farmer’s family. For him, cartooning is a psychological treatment for removing behavioral disorders and follies in humans.

Notably, Hariom Tiwari is a committed cartoonist. Having learnt a lot from his Guru, the legendary cartoonist late RK Laxman, he has devoted himself to the art of cartooning. His career as a cartoonist spans over two decades starting from his school days.

A post graduate in soil science from Jawaharlal Nehru University of Agriculture, Madhya Pradesh, Hariom turned to the art of cartooning under the influence of late RK Laxman who inaugurated his two solo exhibitions in Bhopal in 1997 and 2000. These received tremendous critical acclaim. Chacha Chaudhary fame cartoonist late Shri Pran too inaugurated another exhibition of his in Bhopal which was very well received by the artists’ community and connoisseurs.

After working as cartoonist with several newspaper and magazines like National Mail Bhopal, Central Chronicle Bhopal, currently he is with Dainik Bhaskar Group, Bhopal. His pocket cartoons are very popular. He is also doing advocacy based cartooning for Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The exhibition can be viewed from Monday to Saturday except Sundays and public holidays. The gallery can be visited from 10 am to 7:30 pm.
