A tweet by senior Congressman and the party manifesto committee chairman M. Veerappa Moily raised eyebrows on Thursday. In the tweet, Mr. Moily slammed the process of selection of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections and came down heavily on the role of money power in politics.

Mr. Moily tweeted, “INC needs to solve money in politics. We can’t afford to have road contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections”. He has tagged AICC president Rahul Gandhi in the tweet, bringing it to his notice.

The tweet takes a dig at Public Works Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Mr. Moily was not available for comments.
