Florida: Pedestrian bridge collapsed in Miami, 4 dead, 10 injured

MIAMI: At Least four people died and 10 others wounded after a pedestrian bridge connecting Florida International University to a student housing area collapsed on Thursday in Florida.

“We have recovered four victims. Four deceased,” Miami-Dade Fire Chief Dave Downey stated.

As per area’s deputy mayor Maurice Kemp, the hunt for survivors had not yet been forsaken.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Division Chief Paul Estopinan affirmed that nearly eight cars were trapped when the 950-ton (tonne) concrete bridge collapsed.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. ET (1730 GMT) on Friday.

This bridge was built using an accelerated modular building technique.
