Gautam Nagar police have nabbed a 30-year-old youth for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at Prem Nagar late in the night on Wednesday.
The accused identified as Ravindra Morya sexually assaulted the victim who was alone at home at the time of the incident.
After the victim started crying the neighbours were alerted and rushed to her rescue and nabbed the accused and was later handed over to the police.
The parents of the victim left the victim at house on the assurance of the tenant to take care of their daughter but the tenant raped the victim. The nabbed accused was identified as Ravindra Morya who used to live as tenant at victim’s house.
On the day of the incident, parents of victim had gone to Jablapur. The accused came to the house of the victim along with her two daughters on the pretext of watching TV and when the victim went asleep the accused went to his room left his two daughters and came back to sexually assault the victim.
The victim managed to escape from the back and raised alarm which alerted the neighbours who caught the accused and handed over the accused to the Gautam Nagar police.
A complaint was lodged with the Gautam Nagar police and based on the complaint after preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and section 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act have started further investigation. The accused has been sent under judicial custody.
