A seven-year-old child was killed on Thursday morning during a clash which broke out between two groups in Laksar village. Heavy police force was deployed in the village as the situation was tense, a police officer said, adding that a man hunt was on to nab the miscreants involved in the death of the child.
According to police, the clash was the sequel to a quarrel involving a hearing and speech impaired man identified as Farjan and one Kallu.
“On Wednesday, when Farjan was working in his fields water gushed in the fields of Kallu. Both quarreled and the dispute was later settled by the villagers. However, things flared up again on Thursday as they came to blows. Some other villagers also came into the scene.
While some came in support of Kallu the others supported Farjan. Things turned into a group clash. Someone supporting Kallu opened fire as Farjan along with his son Kamran was standing outside his house. Bullets pierced the seven-year-old Kamran.
The child was rushed to a hospital where he later succumbed,” said police station in-charge TS Rana.
He added with tension prevailing in the village, a heavy police contingent was deployed and a hunt for Kallu and others of his group was on.
