Pacifier Recall: Choking Hazard Leads to More Than Half a Million Baby Products Recalled
In what might present a scare to many parents, more than half a million products for babies have been recalled due to a choking hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 600,000 Dr. Brown’s Lovey pacifiers and teether holders on Thursday, saying the only remedy for the issue is to replace the item. The Dr. Brown's products present a danger to young children because a snap on the pacifier's ribbon can detach, which then presents a choking hazard.
The problem could potentially affect a lot of folks. Some 590,000 have been sold in the U.S. with another 10,500 sold in Canada. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the $10 pacifiers were sold at a number of major retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond, H-E-B Grocery, Kmart, Target, Toys "R" Us/Babies "R Us," Walmart and online at Amazon, among other places. The pacifiers were on sale from August 2015 to March 2018.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 67 incidents in which the ribbon frayed and detached but no injuries.
The Dr. Brown's pacifiers and teether holders were stylized to look like animals. The designs involved with the recall are the giraffe, zebra, turtle, deer, bunny and special holiday-edition reindeer, frog and Spring bunny. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the products with these codes are a part of the recall: RICH0615, RICH0715, RICH0815, RICH1215, RICH0516, RICH0616, RICH0716, RICH1116, RICH1016, RICH0916, RICH1216, RICH0317, RICH0417, RICH0517, RICH0617, RICH0717, RICH0817 and RICH0917. Those affected by the recall should immediately take the product away from young children and contact the import company, Handi-Craft, for a replacement product. The company's phone number is 833-224-7674.
