On the same day that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) unanimously agreed to quit the NDA alliance, the party wrote to the Lok Sabha Secretary-General on moving a no-confidence motion in the Parliament today against the Centre.
The move comes a day after TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu agreed that his party would support a no-trust vote from YSR Congress against the Modi government.
Telugu Desam Party has decided to officially exit the National Democratic Alliance due to failure in fulfilling the promises made in the State Reorganisation Act.

This decision was taken unanimously, in a teleconference with Politburo members, today.
Support started to flow in from all corners especially from Opposition parties. Some of them were CPI(M), Samajwadi party and TMC. Congress was one of the first parties that said it would support TDP's no-confidence motion in the House. Sources in Congress said if the motion is admitted and gets accepted in the House, then it would support the proposal.
While party president Rahul Gandhi had earlier said his party was in support of Andhra Pradesh being granted special category status, senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated the same thing again today.
