In a virtual takeover of the BCCI, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Thursday issued a fresh list of directions which takes away most of the powers from the board’s office-bearers.

In a four-page letter, the CoA has elaborately conveyed its 12-point diktat under which the BCCI office- bearers will have to seek the approval of CoA for travel, for making any payment of above Rs 25 lakh and have to mark all the communications to the BCCI CEO (Rahul Johri) and the CoA.

The differences between CoA and BCCI officials have accentuated of late with the committee chairman Vinod Rai being miffed with the acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary on being kept in the dark about the day-night Test against West Indies.

Choudhary, on the other hand, refused to sign the appointment letter of the new General Manager (Marketing) selected by two-member CoA committee. The CoA was also upset with the BCCI finance committee for sitting on international and domestic players’ annual contracts despite reminders. Choudhary, though, claimed none of the office-bearers was informed of the contracts.

The CoA reminded the BCCI acting president CK Khanna, Choudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry of the SC orders on January 2 and 30 which directed the CoA to supervise the functioning of the BCCI through the CEO besides ensuring that Lodha reforms are implemented.
