Two-day deeksha against expulsion of Congress MLAs ends

Amidst slogan shouting supporters, the two-day deeksha against the expulsion of the two Congress MLAs, Komatireddy Venkatareddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar ended on Thursday evening with all senior leaders formally offering them lemon juice.

With the sharp criticism of the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the two Congress MLAs drew huge applause from the Congress activists even as they ended their deeksha. The large turnout for two days from across the State seems to have given the Congress party lot of enthusiasm and was reflected in their speeches.

Mr. Venkata Reddy targeted CM and announced that his only wish now is to throw out the TRS government and he would go all out to defeat the ruling party. He said the CM targeted him for announcing that he would contest in Gajwel with the aim of defeating him. He also challenged the CM to contest against him in Nalgonda or alternatively, he can send his son, K.T. Rama Rao or nephew, T. Harish Rao even as the crowd cheered him.

Mr. Sampath Kumar became emotional as he said the CM targeted him personally as he was vociferously raising Dalit issues.

He said the TRS also tried to lure him into their party offering works worth crores but he was a true Congressman and would remain so. He alleged that KCR hates Reddy and Dalit communities and he chose to show his anger expelling them for no reason.

The TPCC President, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy described the Chief Minister as a curse on Telangana in response to CM’s statement that Congress was Villian No.1 It was KCR who was Telangana villain inducting Telangana betrayers like Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Mahender Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav into the Cabinet.

People like Mr. Kodandaram, Gaddar, Vimalakka and OU students who united all groups for the cause have also become villains in the eyes of KCR, he alleged.

He said KCR would not have become the Chief Minister if Congress President, Sonia Gandhi had ignored people’s dream despite knowing political sufferings elsewhere.

Mr. Reddy reiterated the demand that Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary provide the entire footage of Assembly proceedings of March 12 and termed the story of attack as fabricated and scripted by KCR.

TJAC Chairman M. Kodandaram also visited Gandhi Bhavan to express solidarity. K. Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also spoke.
