With the objective of increasing its footprint across the southern part of the country, the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) today opened its Regional Office in the city.
SRTEPC was set up in 1954 as an apex Export Promotion Organisation to promote the exports of Indian Man-Made Fiber Textile (MMFT) products.
It has more than 3,000 members spread cross the major MMFT clusters such as Mumbai, Surat, Bhiwandi, Bhilwara, Panipat, Erode, Malegaon among others.
Textile Commissioner Kavita Gupta inaugurated the office on the premises of Southern India Mills Association.
SRTEPC as the flag bearer of Indian exporters of MMFT has helped many of its member build enduring and profitable relationships with the buyers in more than 150 countries across the world, its Chairman, Narain Aggarwal said in a release.
The council has played a transforming role in inculcating an export culture and promoting exports of Indian Man-Made Fiber Textiles, putting India among the top 10 MMFT exporters in the world by undertaking various export promotional programs in emerging and new markets in Latin America, Africa, CIS and Middle East.
The products under the purview of the Council are Fiber, Yarn, Fabric, Made-ups, Home Textiles and Technical Textiles and provides various kinds of data backed by extensive market research about trends, development and potential of the various markets, Aggarwal said.
