Rain lashes Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka

BENGALURU: Evening showers continued to drench Bengaluru for the second consecutive day on Friday.

While some welcomed rains as a much-needed relief from the soaring mercury levels, for others it posed as a hurdle for getting back home. Flooded roads, uprooted trees and water logging of low lying areas were common complaints.

BBMP Control Room was flooded with calls even as M Shivaraj, leader of the house in BBMP Council, took guard of the operations there. “By 8.30pm, we had received two trees uprooting cases from JJ Nagar and two cases in Gandhinagar. Water logging was reported from areas like Kodchikkanahalli, Hosakerehalli, KR Cirlce, South End circle, UB City area, Gayathrinagar and Hegganahalli areas,” said an operator at the control room.


Weathermen have predicted rains for Saturday as well. “Generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers is likely in some areas on Saturday. Maximum and minimum temperatures very likely to be around 32 and 21 degree Celsius respectively.”
