NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Friday reserved its order on the bail plea of
Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram, even as it wrapped up proceedings in the INX Media graft case. The CBI strongly opposed grant of any relief, accusing Karti of destroying evidence.
Fielding a battery of senior lawyers including senior
Congress party leaders
Kapil Sibal,
Abhishek Manu Singhvi and former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium, Karti argued that no case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was made out against him since the CBI has not even interrogated any public servant, leave alone register a case against any one.
The legal team pointed out that the FIR lodged in the case did not state which public servant or
Foreign Investment Promotion Board official was influenced, leading to the registration of a corruption case.
