President Ram Nath Kovind today said it is time to revitalise trade relations between India and Madagascar which go back to several centuries.
At a joint address with his Madagascar counterpart Hery Rajaonarimampianina to the business community in Antananarivo, Mr Kovind said India is on a fast growth trajectory path and Madagascar seeks investment and expertise.
He said both countries can partner each other and cooperate in the fields of agriculture, food processing, health, mining, energy, pharma, gems and jewellery, tourism and infrastructure.
Mr Kovind said the economic partnership is one of the most important pillars driving the engagement between any two countries in today's world. He expressed happiness that joint India Madagascar business seminar was organised to enhance economic connect. The Malagasy President said that his country is committed to economic reforms and create an investment-friendly climate. He said India is becoming a superpower in various fields.
Malagasy Prime Minister Oliver Mahafaly Solonandrasan, entire Cabinet of Madagascar government, Members of Federation of Commerce of Madagascar, Economic Development Board of Madagascar were present on the occasion.
From India, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce, PHD Chambers of Commerce and Confederation of Indian India participated in the business forum. Small and medium entrepreneurs from both countries were also present. Later, President Kovind planted a sapling at the University of Madagascar.
