Red sanders seized

Forest department officials in Tiruvallur have registered cases against a man and his son on the charge of possessing one tonne of red sanders in their house.

According to the police, they received information about red sanders being stocked in a house in Periya Natham village in Gummidipoondi. When the house was raided they found 27 pieces of red sanders. They nabbed Rangathan (50) and his son Thangaprakash (23) and handed them over to the forest department officials. A search is on for Ravi, suspected to be a red sanders smuggler, who stored the wood in their house.
