DAV and Golden Gate International College advanced to the semi-finals of the Golden Gate University Cricket Cup here at the TU Stadium today.
In the quarter-final matches, DAV thrashed Shankar Dev Campus by eight wickets, while Golden Gate recorded a 62-run victory over Janata College. In Friday’s semi-final matches, Tribhuvan University ‘A’ will take on Cosmos College, while Golden Gate will take on DAV.
Batting first, Shankar Dev scored168-5 in their allotted 20 overs before DAV raced to 172-2 in 15.3 overs. Player-of-the-match Aadil Khan scored a quick fire 35-ball 77 hitting five boundaries and six sixes in DAV’s win. Skipper Sanjay Basnet remained unbeaten on 16-ball 36 that included six boundaries and a six, while Sumit Maharjan scored 28 not out off 24 balls hitting one each four and six.
Earlier, Shankar Dev posted the fighting total riding on Pradeep Airee’s 25-ball 50 not out that included two fours and four sixes. Sunil Dhamal scored 44 off 37 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes, while Ayushman Bam scored 39-ball 44 hitting three fours and two sixes.
In another match, Golden Gate scored 171-5 before they restricted Janata to 109-4. Golden Gate’s Bhupendra Thapa scored 45-ball 57 hitting three boundaries and four sixes, while Sanjay Shrestha and Ravi Kumar Sah scored 42 runs each. Shrestha hit three fours and two sixes in his 26-ball knock, while player-of-the match Sah cracked two each boundaries and sixes in his 27-ball innings.
In reply, Janata’s Ankit RJ hit 22-ball 26 with the help of four boundaries and a six, while Nirajan KC remained unbeaten on 26 off 38 balls that included a four. Golden Gate’s Ravi Kumar Sah also picked up two wickets.
