Bengaluru: The
Bannerghatta Biological Park (
BBP), which boasts of several exotic animals, will soon add a three-year-old female giraffe to its kitty.
Thirteen-foot-tall Babli will be transferred from
Mysuru Zoo under an animal-exchange programme. This is the first time BBP will be welcoming a giraffe for which the authorities have been trying for over five years. Another giraffe from
Mysuru Zoo, Mary, will join Babli after a few weeks.
"A few of our staffers are already in Mysuru to get acquainted with the animal. With all formalities over, the giraffe should be at BBP in two-three weeks," a BBP official said.
The giraffe will be transported to Bannerghatta on a long-chasis truck on which a container will be mounted to place the animal. "We will take care about the high-tension cables on the way and other obstacles," he added.
