Is IPL to get ban? National Green Tribunal (NGT) asks for answer

The National Green Tribunal has asked the Center, the BCCI and others to respond to the petition to ban IPL tournaments due to wastage of water during IPL matches.

A bench headed by Justice Javed Rahim has issued notices to the Ministry of Water Resources, the Indian Cricket Board and nine states where matches are to be played. All parties have been asked to respond within two weeks. The next hearing of the case is on 28th April.

A youth from Alwar, Haider Ali, has filed a petition during the Indian Premier League about the demand for action against those who have been badly wasting water.

It said that the concerned officials should be stopped from organizing this tournament for business purposes which are to be held in nine places.
