Policeman injured as militants attack BJP leader in Srinagar

more-in

One policeman was injured on Thursday when militants fired upon the personal security officers (PSOs) guarding a BJP leader on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Preliminary reports suggest the BJP leader, Mohammad Anwar Khan, and his two PSOs were fired upon by the militants at Balhama in Khanmoh. “One policeman was injured in the attack,” said a police official.

Initial reports suggest there was an exchange of fire as the militants tried to snatch the weapon from the injured policeman. “The bid has been foiled,” said the official.

The area has been cordoned off by security forces.
