OSU's Mike Gundy offers to pay for public school security

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy has offered to pay for enhanced security measures to protect the school system where his children attend.

Gundy on Wednesday told the Stillwater school board he's worried there's no plan to deal with an on-campus gunman and said that one should be developed. Gundy's comments came amid national student walk-outs following a shooting that killed 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Gundy suggested placing retired police officers or retired members of the military in schools to provide protection. He says he was willing to pay for the rest of the school year.

Gundy said airports, banks and jewelry stores have plenty of security, and pointed out that it's easy for him walk into a school during recruiting trips.
