Man Utd news: Jamie Redknapp gives damning top four verdict about Jose Mourinho side

MANCHESTER UNITED are the most unenjoyable team to watch in the Premier League top four.

That is the opinion of former Liverpool and Tottenham star Jamie Redknapp, who suggests Jose Mourinho has not improved United since joining in 2016.

The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League this week after suffering a shock defeat at home to Sevilla.

It means their only hope of picking up silverware this season rest in the FA Cup and they will be looking to progress to the semi-finals when they face Brighton on Saturday (7.45pm).

But their poor performance in Europe coupled with Manchester City’s dominance in the English top flight has highlighted some worrying signs at United.

Mourinho recently signed a new deal at Old Trafford and Redknapp doesn’t believe he should be sacked, but insists the former Chelsea boss needs to make big changes.

“Mourinho may not be the only manager under pressure to compete with City but United are the only team in the top four who are not enjoyable to watch,” Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

“United can still win the FA Cup this season in what would be a third trophy in two years for Mourinho.

“They are nine points clear of Chelsea in a top-four spot and are likely to invest heavily again to try to close the gap on City next season.

“Mourinho will point to the fact that United are rebuilding but, in terms of the way they play, you cannot say that any real progress has been made.

“While I argued in my Sportsmail column recently that Mourinho had not done enough to earn his new contract, I equally do not think he should leave the club.

“After this defeat by Sevilla, it is clear that now is the time for Mourinho to change his approach.”
