Action against two more legislators likely

Energy Minister G. Jagdish Reddy has warned that action would follow against two more legislators who aided the attack on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and Legislative Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud on the first day of the budget session of the legislature.

In an informal chat with mediapersons in Assembly lobbies, Mr. Jagdish Reddy said the video clippings of the incident were being analysed. The involvement of two more legislators was being studied.

He said the by-elections that will crop up now with the expulsion of Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar will mark the end of two decades of anti-social politics of Mr. Venkat Reddy as he will be defeated. The TRS will win by-polls with a majority of 40,000 to 50,000 votes.

Separately, BJP State president K. Laxman said the Speaker had shown in the House video footage of uncharitable criticism by two TV channels against MLAs in the past. Why was it not done now before taking the decision?

Mr. Laxman said the expulsion of two MLAs was a big punishment. Further action against two more MLAs that was talked about by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was something that should be left to the good sense of the government.
