DANBURY - Area police departments are on the lookout for a driver who struck two Danbury police cruisers Wednesday afternoon.

The incident began around 3 p.m. when Danbury police saw what they suspected was a drug deal on Steven Street.

When officers tried to approach the suspect, he attempted to flee in a gray Acura.

The Acura struck at least two cruisers while police attempted to block the vehicle.

NBC Connecticut reports that one officer was struck when the suspect drove into the officer’s car door as she was trying to get out. She was hit by the door, but not seriously hurt and refused treatment.

The vehicle was last seen on I-84 in Newtown.

Bridgeport was one of the area department’s alerted.

The suspect was described as “extremely dangerous” in a broadcast to police.
