Poultry import under scanner

Khotang Bird Flu Disaster Rescue Committee has tightened the security checking at various entry points to regulate the import of birds and bird-related materials from adjoining districts.

A meeting of the bird Flu Disaster Rescue Committee held today decided to intensify security checks to regulate the import of poultry products to avoid possible outbreak of bird flu.

District Bird Flu Disaster Rescue Committee Coordinator and Khotang CDO Ekdev Adhikari said that a decision was taken to regulate import of chicken, eggs and chicken feed at various entry points of the district such as Jayaramghat, Foksingtar and Chakhewabhanjyang, among others.

“The decision was taken to regulate import of eggs, chickens and chicken feed,” said CDO Adhikari.
