After the tragic incident of electrocution that took away the life of a youth and left seven other youths injured while trying to set up a flagpole near Argora Chowk, following the incident, the State Government on Wednesday gave Rs 2 lakh to the family members of deceased, Vipul Singh as compensation.
Ranchi DC, Rai Mahimapat Ray today handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to victim Vipul Singh’s Uncle Niranjan Singh at collectorate on Wednesday. After this terrible episode, Chief Minister Raghubar Das had instructed the DCs of all 24 districts to be extra vigilant during the Ram Navami processions to avoid such untoward incidents.
When enquired about the elaborate plan of action ahead of Ram Navami procession that covers all major routes besides just diverting the traffic plan here in State Capital, Ranchi DC said, “A meeting with Mahavir Samiti members has been scheduled on March 15. All the senior officials will be there to chalk out a concrete plan of action imposing stringent orders to keep a watch during Ram Navami processions to avert any unpleasant incidents.”
From smooth traffic plan to deployment of additional forces at strategic localities will be discussed in the upcoming meeting. Ray assured that the vulnerability mapping of locations including other essential components will be taken up during the meeting excepted to be attended by all senior officials of the district administration.
Notably, Singh who was the main teacher of Maharshi Arvind Prabhat Branch and a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was leading a procession with huge flag-post ahead of a celebration planned for the upcoming Hindu New Year. Along with Singh, several other youths were also in the march, when this unfortunate incident took place. According to the sources, under the specialized care and observation, treatment of all the injured victims is going on.
Meanwhile, when further explored about the prime cause of this untoward incident, Ranchi DC clarified that no formal approval or even information of a procession was given to the district administration officials. “We were having no prior information about any big or small procession being carried out yesterday at one of the busiest locality. As of now, we will try to manage the upcoming major festivals – Sarhul and Ram Navami accordingly.”
