The main Opposition in the State Assembly, Congress on Wednesday staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly over the issue of women's safety in the wake of a college student vexed by molestation committing suicide in the State Capital.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Ramniwas Rawat of Congress sought a discussion on the issue through an adjournment motion. Speaker Sitasharan Sharma assured that he would take a decision on the matter on Wednesday.
However, Rawat persisted on his demand. Leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh said that protests are being staged in the city over the incident. The regime should stop the proceedings and initiate a discussion on the issue. Opposition members stuck to their demand and staged a walkout alleging that the dispensation was not serious on women's security.
