Tirupur: A 24-year-old woman was found murdered in a pool of blood inside her house at Kamachi Amman Nagar in Iduvampalayam here on Wednesday. A five-sovereign gold chain she was wearing was missing.
The victim, Nathiya, was the mother of two children, police sources said. “She had married A Boopalan six years ago. The couple had a four-year-old daughter and a one-and-half-year-old son. Boopalan’s younger brother A Jeevanantham was also staying with them. Boopalan was a tailoring contractor and Jeevanantham worked in a private garment manufacturing unit. They used to leave the house for work early and return in the night,” a police officer said.
“On Wednesday evening, after the couple’s eldest child left for their relative’s house, only Nathiya and her youngest child were in the house. Jeevanantham, who returned home around 8.30pm found the front door open. When he switched on the light, he found his sister-in-law lying in a pool of blood and the toddler lying on a sofa,” the officer said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Nathiya’s maternal aunt had visited her about one-and-a-half-hour ago. “In between, someone hacked her on her neck a few times and stole the five-sovereign gold chain. But, her two earrings and a ring were not touched so were other properties in the house,” the officer added.
Veerapandi police have registered a case and are conducting investigation.
