Cabinet approves amendment in Kerala liquor policy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cabinet on Wednesday approved amendments in the new liquor policy for 2018-19.
The major highlight for the same is phasing out plastic liquor bottles and replacing it with glass ones.


The government has also decided not to increase the number of Bevco (beverages corporation) and Consumerfed liquor shops.


Adding to this, bars in tourist spots will be allowed to remain open till 12am than the previous timing of 11pm. Also, toddy shops will run as usual.


All the amendments will be in effect from April 2, 2018.
