My girlfriend says she is ashamed to be seen with me in public because I am not as educated as she is. If she had a problem with my education, why did she agree to a relationship? How do I get her to see that this is hypocritical?
You have a valid point and I do think it is hypocritical. Have you tried asking her this question? If she can’t be with you in public, why should you continue with this?
I have a confession to make. A few weeks ago, I had a one night stand with an office colleague. I am happily married and it should never have happened, but she’s single and we were both drunk and it just did. I haven’t spoken to her much after that incident, and she doesn’t know what to say because I have been avoiding her, but the thing that worries me the most is my wife. I had no intention of ever doing this to her and now I have. If I tell her about it, our marriage may be over. If I don’t tell her about it, keeping it a secret will eat me alive. I don’t know what to do. I am becoming increasingly desperate and it is now affecting my behaviour at home, too. My wife has started to wonder what the problem is. Please help me find a solution.
Adultery can tear your relationship apart, and you really do owe it to her to come clean if the two of you have been honest with each other until now. How she will react depends entirely on the kind of relationship you have with her. You made a mistake and acknowledge that. You also recognise that not telling her about it is making it hard for you to function. I can’t tell you to lie, because that is never a good idea. You have to decide whether you want to be open about this or withhold information and live with the guilt of that decision.
