About eight years after a woman sub-inspector slapped a Tasmac employee on his cheeks damaging his eardrum, the State Human Rights Commission has recommended that the Tamil Nadu government pay him compensation of ₹50,000 within two months.
The government may recover the sum from the respondent, R. Thilagavathy, then SI at Kadaladi police station, as per rules, SHRC member D. Jayachandran said in his order.
Complainant C. Muniasamy of Kamuthi submitted that R. Thilagavathy came to the bar attached to Tasmac in Kamuthi looking for its owner. She asked about his whereabouts to the complainant who was a worker.
During interrogation, she slapped him and took him to the station where he was tortured. When he went to the hospital the following day, he was told that his eardrum was damaged. Hence, the plea. The respondent denied the charges against her. After hearing the arguments, Mr. Jayachandran recommended the compensation.
