The CCB police have nabbed people suspected of preparing counterfeit marks cards in the name of Mangalore Institute of Technological Science (MITS), T C Road, in Thokkottu.

The marks cards were prepared by Godwin D'Souza (33), Ullal, and were sold for Rs 10,000 to Rs 45,000. He has been arrested by the police.

D'Souza was working in an organisation run by Askan Sheikh since 2016. Fake marks cards of SSLC, PUC, graduation and diploma were prepared and sold by him.

MITS principal Askar Sheikh, director Askan Sheikh and Godwin D'Souza collected the details from the candidates visiting the institution and gave them the marks cards and certificates, within a week. SSLC and PU mark cards were sold at Rs 10,000 while degree and diploma marks cards were sold at Rs 45,000. The SSLC marks cards were issued in the name of Mangalore Public School.

Askan Sheikh, the director of MITS, operated with an organisation called Eduexcel Consultancy in Mangaluru East Police station limits, in Pumpwell, and prepared fake marks cards in a similar fashion. More than 150 people have availed of SSLC, PUC, degree, diploma and BTech marks cards from the fraudulent organisation.

A case was registered by CCB in 2016 in this regard. CCB Police Inspector Shantaram, PSI Shyamsunder, Kabbalraj and Ullal PSI Gurappa Kanti were part of the police team.
