The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday questioned the ruling Congress for “its failure” to provide salary to employees of government-run corporations and societies.

In a statement, BJP president V. Saminathan said the government had failed to pay salary to the employees and should explain the reason for the inability. The BJP would mobilise the affected employees and their family members to stage a protest when the Assembly meets on March 26, he said.

The party also criticised the government for “its failure to implement” announcements made in the last Assembly session. The government had failed to utilise funds properly, Mr. Saminathan alleged.

The Centre had sanctioned around ₹350 crore to the Union Territory for various Centrally assisted schemes. However, the government could not even spend 50 per cent of the funds, he claimed.

Except for the routine visits that the Chief Minister and Ministers were making to New Delhi nothing else was happening in the Union Territory, he claimed.
