While hearing a petition of suspended civil judge Deepali Sharma on exemption of arrest, Nainital High Court has sought reply from the State Government by March 20. The High Court has set the next hearing date of the case on March 20.
Suspended civil judge Deepali Sharma has failed to get relief from the court regarding the petition she had filed on exemption from the arrest and cancellation of FIR lodged in SIIDCUL police station in Haridwar district. Court sources said that the petition was heard in the single bench court of Justice Rajeev Sharma on Tuesday.
Notably, the Uttarakhand High Court had suspended the woman judge from Haridwar, Deepali Sharma, for allegedly abusing a minor girl who was working as a domestic help at her residence.
Earlier, the district judge had conducted an inquiry into the matter after an FIR had been lodged at SIIDCUL police station. A report had been submitted by the Haridwar district judge Rajendra Singh over the physical and mental torture of the girl who had about 20 injuries on her body as ascertained during medical examination at district hospital. Besides, she is learnt to have suffered burn injuries. The girl, who hails from Nainital, was staying with the judge for the past four years.
Based on a report submitted to the court by Haridwar district judge Rajendra Singh over the alleged torture of the 13-year-old girl, chief justice KM Joseph had earlier ordered the suspension of Sharma. During the suspension period, the judge remains attached to the Tehri court as per the ruling of the court.
Investigation report revealed that the teenage girl had several wounds on her body when she was rescued from Sharma’s home by the district judge who was accompanied by the assistant superintendent of police Rachita Juyal and members of Child Help Line.
