India entered the final of the Nidahas Trophy T20 cricket tournament on Wednesday after a 17-run win over Bangladesh. Chasing 177 runs, Bangladesh fell short by 17 runs after they finished their 20 overs with 159/6. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 72 as he missed out guiding his team to a win. Washington Sundar was the star bowler for the Indians as he struck thrice in quick succession sending back Tamim Iqbal (27), Liton Das (7) and Soumya Sarkar (1) to the pavilion in the first six overs. Mushfiqur and Sabbir Rahman tried their best to reach the target set by India but some better bowling by the Indians in the latter stages saw their efforts go in vain. Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Yuzvendra Chahal took a wicket each for India. (Scorecard)
Earlier, Skipper Rohit Sharma (89) led from the front and helped India post 176/3 against Bangladesh in the fifth match of the tri-series. Indian openers Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan (35) clicked at the right time and gave the crucial start when needed the most. Skipper Rohit, who was out of form for quite a long time, returned to the form and slammed his 13th fifty (off 42 balls). Suresh Raina (47) also contributed handsomely to the cause. On the other hand, Bangladesh bowlers struggled right from the start. The fielders failed to restrict the Indian batsmen, thanks to some sloppy work on the outfield.
Put in to bat, India started off on a perfect note as the openers forged a 70-run partnership before Dhawan was clean bowled by Rubel Hossain. His 27-ball knock was laced with five boundaries and one six. Experienced left-arm batsman Raina then joined Rohit and the duo played sensibly. In the process, Rohit completed his half-century and helped India to cross 100-run mark in 14th over. Raina also played as expected from him. The Uttar Pradesh batsman dispatched the bad balls perfectly while rotating the strike.

So that is it from this game. India have now won three games in a row in this tournament and have booked their place in the final. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have everything to play for against Sri Lanka as the winner will join India in the final. That game will be played on the 16th of March in Colombo at 1900 local (1330 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Man of the Match and India captain, Rohit Sharma, says it was important for him to step up as he had mentioned in the toss. He felt they were 10-15 runs short and credits the way Bangladesh bowled in the death. Appreciates Washington Sundar's spell at the start. Reckons the wicket was on the slower side as it was gripping and turning. Further adds it was not easy to play the shots and hence he took his time. States the partnership between him and Suresh Raina was key. Acknowledges the courage shown by Sundar as he provided them with the wickets when they needed it. Ends by saying Mohammed Siraj is a great talent and he has the skills to execute what the captain asks for.
Bangladesh captain, Mahmudullah, says he is disappointed with the effort. Credits Mushfiqur Rahim for the way he batted. He feels the chase was on and they needed a good start which they did not get. Reckons 10 runs less would have made a difference. Mentions the plan in the death overs was to take the pace off and stick to their strengths but it did not work out for them. Ends by saying they have an opportunity to prove themselves in the next game and they are looking forward for it.
For India, Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers with a three-fer. He was well supported by Chahal and the two combined to end with figures of 8-0-43-4. Siraj, however, once again had a day to forget. He did pick a wicket towards the end but was taken for 50 runs in his 4 overs. Nevertheless, a good victory for India. Stay tuned for the presentation...
Chasing 177 was never going to be easy on a wicket which was a little sluggish and the start for Bangladesh was also not good. They lost the accelerator of their last game, Liton Das, early. Tamim Iqbal though continued playing his shots and got the Bangla Tigers off to a flier. However, Washington Sundar spun a web around the opposition batsmen as he picked up three big wickets in the Powerplay. Mahmudullah did show intent after coming on but he fell prey to another spinner, Chahal. Then Sabbir and Rahim joined forces and did provide hope with a 65-run stand, but once the former departed it was too much of an ask for Rahim who once again notched up a fifty and remained unbeaten.
India are into the finals with another victory over Bangladesh, who are yet to win a T20I game against the Men in Blue. It was all set up by their skipper Rohit Sharma who played an outstanding knock in the first innings and then their bowlers followed it up and ensured they come out on top.

Mohammed Siraj to Mushfiqur Rahim
A dot to finish and INDIA WIN BY 17 RUNS! Another slower ball outside off, Rahim goes to cut but misses.

Mohammed Siraj to Mushfiqur Rahim
A slower ball outside off, Rahim lets it be thinking it is a wide but it has not been called.

Mohammed Siraj to Mushfiqur Rahim
FOUR! This is brilliant by Rahim! It, however, won't make any difference to the result of the game. Take nothing away from his innings though. A full ball outside off, driven through covers for a boundary.

WIDE! A bumper which bounces way above the batsman's head and the umpire signals it a wide.
