Guideline to development

more-in

The district plan is a guideline that helps decide what type of development projects are needed for the district, district panchayat president V.K. Madhu has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a development seminar as part of the second People’s Plan here on Tuesday.

Mr. Madhu said the district plan was formed by 27 subcommittees on the basis of comprehensive data on each sector. However, panchayats should keep the district plan in mind while formulating projects in each sector.

Nod for projects

Mr. Madhu said Chemmaruthi and Kattakada were the only two panchayats that had obtained nod for their projects as early as March 3, while Vellanad panchayat had got sanction for its projects on March 5.

It was hoped that by March 31, the three-tier panchayats, municipalities, and the city Corporation would have obtained the nod for their projects, he said.
