Two unexploded hand grenades made for some anxious moments in Punta Gorda on Wednesday.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was called in and helped to render the grenades safe. The explosive devices were being transported to a site for destruction.
An individual found the grenades while cleaning out a residence and brought them to Higher Power Outfitters for destruction.
Since it was unknown if the grenades were live, the owner of the business contacted the Punta Gorda Police Department which evacuated the immediate area and called the bomb squad.
