The Amherst County Museum and Historical Society and Amherst Glebe Arts Response, Inc., are co-sponsoring “Black Herman: Famed Magician from Amherst County,” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18.
The program follows the life of Black Herman, the stage name of Benjamin Rucker, who was born in Amherst County in 1889.
Rucker traveled the country in the early years of the 20th century and became a prominent citizen of Harlem, according to Lynn Kable, of AGAR.
