Man robbed of Rs 45k on Nuvem bypass

Margao: In yet another case of highway robbery by known criminal, Agostinho Carvalho, Maina Curtorim police on Tuesday booked an offence against him after he allegedly waylaid a car and robbed the occupant of Rs 45,000 cash. The incident occurred on Sunday.

Liyakat Khan, resident of Honda, Sattari, in his complaint to police, said that he had parked his car along the Nuvem bypass road when the accused accosted him and asked for his identity card. When Khan reached for his wallet, Carvalho allegedly snatched it away and fled from the scene by his car. The wallet contained Rs 45,000 cash and an Aadhar card.


Maina Curtorim police have booked an offence against the accused under Sections 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.
