Australia ASX200 falls 0.7%

Australian share market finished lower on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, as investor confidence was dented amid uncertainty sparked by the sacking of U. S. and amid talk of potential U. S. tariffs against Sector-wise, losses were broad-based, with all sectors except gold producers in the red.

Financials, which make up the most heavily weighted sector on the index, declined amid a hard-nosed official inquiry into the embattled sector. The ended 0.7% lower or 39.4 points to 5935.3 at the close of trade. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the by 694 to 494 and 369 ended unchanged. The VIX, which measures the implied of options, was up 2.76% to 13.124.
