Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday took a dig at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the BJP's defeat in the by-elections to the Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur and Phulpur constituencies.
Siddaramaiah said that he now hopes that Adityanath will stop "lecturing" Karnataka on development.
The duo were recently engaged in a Twitter war, on the issues of development and governance in their respective states.
"BJP has suffered humiliating loss in the Lok Sabha seats held by the CM & DyCM of UP. Congratulations to SP & BSP for this historic victory. Unity among the non-BJP parties has played a key role. Perhaps Yogi Adityanath should spend less time lecturing Karnataka on development," read Siddaramaiah's tweet.
JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy also tweeted welcoming the bypoll results.
"The voters of Karnataka too will take a similar decision. The UP, Bihar results have come as a morale boost to the JD(S), which is working towards gaining a majority. The SP could win in UP because of BSP supremo Mayawati's support. BSP has also supported the JD(S) in Karnataka. With BSP's support, JD(S) is bound to form a government in Karnataka," he tweeted.
