U.K. announces measures against Russia

Britain would expel 23 Russian diplomats in response to a nerve toxin attack on a Russian former double agent in southern England, Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday. Ms. May said Britain would also introduce new measures to strengthen defences against hostile state activities, freeze Russian state assets wherever there was evidence of a threat and downgrade its attendance at the soccer World Cup in Russia this summer.

The country’s first woman private investigator, Rajani Pandit, was arrested on February 2 in the illlegal Call Detail Records (CDR) case. On January 24, four private detectives were arrested for allegedly selling CDRs.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), which conducts examination for subordinate services, had on March 4, decided to recommend a CBI inquiry into the alleged paper leaks in one of its tests held on February 21. The demand for a CBI probe was raised after the allegations of leak of questions of the Combined Graduate Level (Tier-II) Examination 2017 held from February 17 to 22.

Venus Williams defeated Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia 7-6 (8), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday as the oldest woman in the draw The 37-year-old American was coming off a straight-set victory over younger sister Serena a night earlier, ending a three-match skid against her sibling. Simona Halep is on track to retain her No. 1 world ranking after defeating Wang Qiang of China 7-5, 6-1 in the fourth round. Next up for Halep is Petra Martic of Croatia, who beat Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-6 (4).
