In an incident that brought back chilling memories of a bleeding Harish Nanjappa, a biker whose body was severed in an accident two years ago, a 34-year-old businessman was lying on the road bleeding profusely after a truck ran over his leg near Nayandahalli junction on Tuesday morning.
While the man lay writhing in pain, passers-by were busy recording the scene on their mobile phones instead of taking him to a hospital.
Byatarayanapura traffic constable Somasundar, who was on duty nearby, rushed to the spot and pulled up people for their insensitive behaviour. He stopped a passing goods autorickshaw to take the victim to the hospital.
The victim, Madanlal, is a resident of Panchasheela Layout in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. He was heading towards Nagarabhavi when a tipper lorry knocked down his motorcycle around 9.30 a.m.
Madanlal fell off the two-wheeler and his legs came under the wheels of the truck, which stopped after colliding with a car.
Somasundar alerted his family before informing the Byatarayanapura traffic police station.
Harish’s case had prompted the State government to introduce the Mukhyamantrigala Santwana Harish, a cashless treatment plan for road accident victims in memory of the 23-year-old.
