‘Accused snatched his gold chain’

A Class XII student was allegedly attacked while resisting a robbery outside Akshardham metro station on March 11, the police said on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old said he was sitting in a car with two female friends around 10 p.m when two men knocked on the window and asked them to step out. “The woman was on the driving seat and refused to roll down the window. However, the youth stepped out of the car from the other side,” said a senior police officer.

As soon as he got down, the duo snatched his gold chain and tried to flee. However, the teenager chased the accuse and nabbed them.

Following this, one of the men pulled out a knife and attacked him. The student sustained injuries on the left arm.

The other accused allegedly hit the youth on the head with a pistol before fleeing in a car parked a few metres ahead, the police said, adding that their third associate was allegedly waiting for them in the vehicle.

Investigation on

The police said a case has been registered. “The CCTV camera footage has been obtained and is being examined. Further investigation is underway,” the officer said.
